.LENZING.

Innovation by nature

Naturally successful

For our partners in the textile and nonwoven industry, Lenzing’s cellulose and fibres are their starting point to value creation. Together with our customers, we develop solutions that add value to their businesses and products. Our relationships, however, expand even further: from B2B to B2C. With consumers’ needs and perspectives in mind, we cooperate with renown fashion brands. While adding value to their business, we ourselves are increasingly acknowledged as a premium consumer brand.

It’s a long way from the forest to the product in the shop. Turning cellulose fibre into a luxuriously soft blouse on a boutique rack or a smart sports outfit with perfect thermal regulation involves numerous stages and specialists. More often than not, these stages and specialists are rather disconnected.

This is where Lenzing plays a key role by doing much more than supplying fibres. All our business customers—spinners, weavers, mills, dye works and converters, but also fashion brands and retailers—highly regard us as their committed, reliable partner because we understand their needs, share insights and think ahead together.

Thus, we support the success and profitability of all our customers along the entire value chain. Be it the generation of ideas or the detection of new trends—in any case, our specialists are ready to develop individual, tailor-made models for mutually beneficial collaborations.

Actually, this partnership approach creates a truly unique benefit: a shared feeling of togetherness, excitement and mutual appreciation. To us, there is no better way to be successful.

Feels so right: TENCEL™

TENCEL™ is Lenzing's flagship brand for textiles. Used for a variety of highly specialized applications, the benefits of TENCEL™ fibres can be discerned instantly: Soft to the skin, smooth to the touch, luxurious in shine and flow—they caress the senses. And convince minds with their exceptional capacity for thermal regulation and moisture absorption.

REFIBRA™ technology: right out revolutionary

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres with REFIBRA™ technology are manufactured in an award-winning efficient closed-loop process, contributing to the circular economy in the textile industry. The use of resources and energy is reduced to a minimum, at the same time we achieve a distinguished level of environmental protection and resource preservation.

"Lenzing continues to demonstrate how we can reduce our ecological footprint."

Darren Todd, Managing Director of Country Road

A seemingly simple idea is at the core of this innovation: The pioneering REFIBRA™ technology involves upcycling a substantial proportion of cotton scraps, e.g. from garment production, in addition to wood pulp sourced from certified sustainable forestry.

This innovative method makes a significant contribution to the efficiency and environmental protection. We’re proud to pave the textile industry’s way towards the future-oriented concept of the circular economy.

.GLOBAL GOALS.

COMPANY OBJECTIVES 2019/2020

Goal: 7 To ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy forall.

Pulp and fiber production are energy-intensive processes. Lenzing is contributing to SDG 7 by improving energy efficiency, using energy conversion technologies for heat and electricity, employing renewable fuels, switching from coal to natural gas and implementing its biorefinery concept. Dissolving wood pulp production with Lenzing’s Biorefinereis at the Lenzing and Paskov sites is not only self-sufficient in terms of meeting its own energy needs, it actually produces surplus energy. This surplus energy (steam and electricity) is used on site, for instance for fiber production or for export to the local grid.

Goal 9: To build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainableindustrialization and foster innovation

Goal 12:: To ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Lenzing ensures sustainable production patterns through sustainable sourcing, efficient use of the raw material wood and efficient and sustainable production, e.g. through the implementation of its biorefinery concept at the Lenzing and Paskovsite. Inclusion of recycling-techniques in production process (REFIBRA). Life-cycle based thinking and partnerships with stakeholders along the value chain contribute to more sustainable consumption patterns.

Goal 13: Taking urgent action to tackle climate change and its impacts

Net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050 - SBT

Goal 15: To sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss.

With its longstanding practice of responsible sourcing, in particular with regard to the main raw material, wood, the company contributes towards SDG 15.
Since all Lenzing fibers are compostable and biodegradable in soil, Lenzing is not contributing to plastic litter issues.
Furthermore, Lenzing initiated an afforestation and conservation project in Albania. Being co-financed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) this social impact project brings together Albanian and Austrian forest experts to increase forest management skills amongst communities, enable know-how exchange between vocational schools and last but not least afforest 20 ha of degraded communal land in rural Albania.

Goal 17: To revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 17 and having implemented "Partnering for systemic change" as a focus area, Lenzingacknowledges that complex global challenges call for a collaborative approach. Therefore, the Lenzing Group regularly engages with a wide range of stakeholders and business partners along the value chain in order to help raising the bar as regards sustainability in the textile and nonwovens industries.

For the Lenzing Group, SDG 7, 9, 12, 13, 15 and 17 are particularly important, because their themes address those fields of the company’s activity where Lenzingcan have the most positive impact.

Goal 7

We cannot only talk about providing affordable and reliable energy to the billions who still rely on wood and charcoal for cooking and heating. Goal 7 also underscores the need for clean and renewable energy to help combat climate change.

Goal 9

Goal 9, in simple terms, states that for a society to grow, it should encourage industries that bring opportunities to everyone while protecting the environment. These industries must also be supported by resilient infrastructure such as reliable transport as well as by technological innovation.

Goal 12

Wants to make us think twice about the things we use, the waste we create, and how that impacts the planet. Changing our behaviour towards more sustainable actions such as recycling really makes a difference when everyone -that includes individuals, companies, government - contributes.

Goal 13

Our climate has always been changing, but in the past 200 years, the changes have been more extreme because of human activity. Climate change is now affecting every country on every continent and the poorest and most vulnerable people are being affected the most. Goal 13 is about finding solutions like renewable energy and clean technologies to fix climate change. But it will take actions from governments, the private sector and civil society to make a significant impact.

Goal 15

We are all part of the global ecosystem. Goal 15 is about making sure that we stop all of the things that threaten our global home. This includes deforestation, land degradation, and loss of animal and plant species. Nature contributes so much to peoples lives which is why it is so important to protect it.

Goal 17

To make all of the goals a reality will require the participation of everyone. That includes governments, the private sector, civil society organizations and people like all of us. The best part is that we don't have to work alone. If we join forces and partner we can get there faster and succeed on each goal.
