Join RawAssembly for Discover the SDGs - To Make Peace With Nature, as the Conscious Fashion Campaign in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships share a host of on-demand programming from agents of change Priya Ahluwalia, Becca McCharen and Hillary Taymour as well as environmental organisations WWF and Canopy among others leading the charge on sustainability.

 

Taking place April 1 - 30, 2021, Discover the SDGs - To Make Peace With Nature, convened by the Conscious Fashion Campaign in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and supported by Arch & Hook, bluesign, Lenzing and TIPA, will comprise of 30 days free access to exhibitions, talks, podcasts, learning tools and documentaries responding to the United Nations Secretary-General’s 2021 priority ‘to make peace with nature’ and aims to strengthen engagement from the global fashion sector to further support the Sustainable Development Goals - 17 urgent calls to action for a better world that have been adopted by all United Nations Member States.

The digital learning hub will feature informational tools and resources from United Nations agencies, environmental organizations and fashion initiatives confronting the global climate crisis. The experience aims to support the Race to Zero campaign and rally the fashion industry for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth. The on-line event will advocate for climate‑positive actions including climate risks in all decisions and working together with a common purpose to leave no one behind.

RawAssembly is taking part within the Australian Fashion Council's booth located in the exhibition hall. The Conscious Fashion Campaign, an initiative founded by social entrepreneur Kerry Bannigan to accelerate fashion industry action in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, launches a month-long virtual educational experience, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships,  entitled;

Textile Mountain - Textile Mountain documentary highlights the social and environmental cost of the second-hand clothing trade, tracing the path of our unwanted garments from recycling bins in Europe to landfills and waterways in the Global South. Shot in Kenya, Ireland and Belgium, the film calls on us to reimagine the way we design, wear and reuse our clothes - so that our fashion waste no longer becomes another country’s burden.

 

Our Planet: Our Business – Inspired by the Netflix series Our Planet, this film takes a look into how the global business community can be a powerful force to drive rehabilitative action for nature. Expert perspectives are offered by WWF Executive Director of Science and Conservation, Mike Barrett, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research Director, Johan Rockström, SDG Advocate, Hindou Ibrahim, Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra, UNFCCC Former Executive Secretary, Christiana Figueres, TESCO Group CEO, Dave Lewis, and Costa Rica President, Carlos Alvadaro Quesada.

 

Nations United - Marking the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations and five years since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals, Nations United tells the story of the world as it is, as it was, and as it could be.

It focuses on the solutions and action we need to tackle poverty, inequality, injustice and climate change.

Voices represented include UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Malala Yousafzai, Don Cheadle, Michelle Yeoh, Forest Whitaker, Thandie Newton, Sugata Mitra, and an exclusive performance from Grammy nominated singer Burna Boy, and a new version of a previous UN performance by multi-Grammy award winning artist, Beyoncé.

 

Circle of Influence - Select episodes from the 9 part podcast series produced by the RealReal and CFDA. Including Disrupting the System: The Generations of Sustainability Leaders. Saddled with the burden of fixing the environment that previous generations ignored, millennials are leading the charge on sustainability - setting a strong example for Gen-Z. This episode engages the voices of designers, Priya Ahluwalia, Becca McCharen, and Hillary Taymour to offer their perspective on taking charge of sustainability in the industry.
